Cultural Heritage Municipality of Unešić, Croatia

The area of Dalmatian Hinterland (Croatian: Dalmatinska Zagora), is the southern inland region of Croatia. The name Zagora means "behind hills", which is a reference to the fact that it is the part of Dalmatia that is not coastal. The cultural heritage area is under the municipality of Unešić and includes archaeological heritage and historic buildings that are all over the area. They represent more or less all of the historical epochs from prehistory to modern days. The significance of these locations is reflected in the continuity of life in this area. Quantity and quality of archaeological sites suggests the need for the systematic archaeological research.

Sites:​

• Old Stone village: Starakula (Modern age);
  
• Archaeological site: Ćukovumac, Zvonik, VelikiBogočin, Cera (lokva) (Prehistory);
  
• Historical buildings: Church of St. Lovro, Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Church of St. Juraj , (Middle age)
  
• Historical buildings: Church of St. Marko, Parish Church of All Saints (Modern age)
  

Main objectives:

• Touristic exploitation of the old settlements, archaeological sites and facilities and possibility for creating new jobs. Enhancement of tourism and visitors, education of the local population;
  
• More opportunities and innovative tools for approaching and understanding the history of the drystone techniques and traditional building values as well as traditional artworks;
  
• Geodetic survey, 3d model, Video presentation of the site and objects of the site.​
